Amanda is VP of Marketing for audience research startup, SparkToro. In her spare time, she writes a marketing newsletter called the Menu (with over 10k subscribers) and teaches Content Marketing 201. She’s also a contributor for Adweek, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, and a former journalist. Amanda previously led marketing for Growth Machine, led marketing for Liftopia, built Fitbit’s B2B content program, and led content and communications for NatureBox.

There is nuance in how we approach opposing views online. How we approach it with our marketing is even more nuanced.
"I think the biggest thing right now is we're in a really crazy space that we've never been in before, with everyone having access to so much information, so much misinformation, so much disinformation, that it is really, really hard for marketers to accurately and effectively not just target the group they want to speak to, but reach and break through."

She has more than 10 years of marketing experience, mostly within cybersecurity and SaaS companies.

Our guest Danny does a great job of differentiating "chat automation," "messenger marketing," and "chatGPT," and how they work through the sales funnel and beyond.
The technology is important, but it's also fundamentally important that we are humanizing our brand voice through these chat automations.
"Another one of my mantras that I live by is don't try to automate anything that you've been unwilling to get good at doing manually. Otherwise, you will automate failure."
He talks us through why most bots are not doing their intended jobs -- because of the humans behind them -- so that's becoming more important as more people and brands are using these tools.

Generative artificial intelligence has made a BIG splash over the past few months!
Actually, it made big news with announcements from Google and Microsoft the week we recorded this episode about ChatGPT, in particular (recorded / multicasted on Feb. 9, 2023).
"It's not something to be afraid of, but it's certainly something to be aware of. And I think all of us as content creators have a responsibility to understand how to differentiate ourselves from these tools."
Indeed, how to differentiate human from machine... What that looks like or whether it's even necessary? This is something we will all be discussing and debating as these tools continue to emerge.
